Mosquitoes In the summer months mosquitoes are known for putting a damper on outdoor fun. Whether you’re camping, grilling, hiking or just enjoying the great outdoors, mosquitoes can ruin the fun.
Being safe from mosquitoes is only one aspect of the story. While there are different mosquito control systems you can utilize, including different mosquito traps, there is more to mosquitoes than just the itchiness.

Mosquitoes Can Carry and Transmit Diseases So Get Mosquito Traps
Mosquitoes can cause more than just really itchy spots on your arms and legs. Some species of mosquitoes can carry diseases, such as malaria, yellow fever and West Nile. These diseases can be life threatening.
To keep you and your family safe, you should look into mosquito control systems. There are mosquito traps that when run 24/7 once the temperature reaches 50 degrees consistently will impact the mosquito breeding. Over a few weeks, you’ll see a noticeable difference in the number of mosquitoes. Eventually, you’ll enjoy a backyard with minimal mosquito annoyance for the entire summer season. The most effective mosquito control systems emit a steady stream of carbon dioxide and heat to attract the mosquitoes, then they suck them into a net where they dehydrate and die.

Standing Water is a Mosquito's Best Friend
Mosquitoes primarily breed and lay their eggs in damp areas with standing water, including lakes, swamps and ponds. To reduce the mosquito population around your home, be sure to remove any sources of stagnant water, which includes buckets and puddles.

Mosquitoes can be Picky
While all humans are created equal, there are certainly people more attractive to mosquitoes. Scientists have cited some factors, such as dark clothing, women over men, and humans that produce more carbon dioxide and lactic acid, as determining factors mosquito use to pick their favorites.

The Buzz on Mosquitoes
When a mosquito is near, one of their most distinctive features comes to light. A mosquito's wings beat up to 500 times a second, which cause the buzzing sound that lets you know you might soon get suddenly itchy.

Don't Blame the Guys
Mosquitoes may all look the same, but you only have to worry about the fairer sex. Although there are thousands of species of mosquitoes, they all have the same trait: only the female will attack humans for blood. The males, much like bees, feed on nectar.

Mosquitoes are an Important Part of the Food Chain
While the mosquito has little to no importance to humans, there are animals that would prefer they stick around. Fish, birds, frogs and bats are among the animals that count on the mosquito as a major source of food.

Those Aren't Bites on your Arms
Contrary to popular belief, the aftereffect of a mosquito attack isn't actually a bite. It is believed the itchy marks mosquitoes leave are an allergic reaction to the mosquito's saliva.

Mosquitoes: A pain in the Arm, Leg and Everywhere Else
Mosquitoes are fascinating creatures when it comes down to it. But on the surface, especially of your skin, they sure can be a pain!
