There is no question that all everyone paying the housing bills every month would not want to save as much as we can. But, it is not everyone’s cup of tea to remember or even follow some simple steps to save your energy bills and thereby save the environment. In this post, I’ll share with you how we have been able to save a lot by following some simple steps.
1. Use LEDs or CFLs: Using the CFLs bulbs and tubes have been our number one cost saving strategy on the energy front. The traditional tungsten bulbs generate a lot of heat and burnt up a lot of energy. However, the CFL bulbs are a bit expensive, yet if you look at the annual bill the investment is worth it.
2. Use induction heater/cooker: - Prior to using the induction-based cookers and heaters we were using the traditional electric coil heater and LPG-based cooking utensils and our monthly electric bill used to be very high. But after switching to induction cooker two years ago our power bills went down at least by 70% per cent!
There are different brands available from the stores and you can even purchase them from online stores. Go for the well known brands to make sure you are getting the best to save your energy bills.
3. Use fans, but energy efficient ones:- Most of us think that fans are the ones that’s primarily responsible for cooling you off. What most of us were not aware is that it is the air that makes you feel cold or hold. So, I’m saying this…. Get a low power consumption fan which may be a bit slow but it will do. Place the fan near the window or ventilator. This will circulate the air or bring in the breeze.
If you follow these simple steps, I’m sure you’ll be pretty close to saving up to 50% of your electricity bill.
