1) Great Content
This one is an obvious one that a lot of bloggers over-look, they focus on tactics first and think short-term. If you create great content that people will want to link to and share with others you can never go wrong. The search engines are getting smarter and smarter everyday if it's being manipulated, they have a better understanding if a real person is sharing your content. So just take extra time to create good content and people will link to it.
2) Market Your Content
Now that have your good content, go and sign-up if you haven't already for social media platforms.
Facebook – Get your account up and search for people or companies with related content in the same niche and share links to your content. Don't just spam add some useful comments to your share with a link back to your site.
Twitter – Use a hashtag of what your contents about, even if you don't have followers you can get attention by using a hashtag like #dog, #marketing or whatever your subject is.
Get on the other social sites like Pintrest, LinkedIn, Google Plus etc and start getting involved. You want the search engines to love your blog, nothing better than an active community sharing your website.
3) Submit your RSS
to as many places as possible, I like www.bulkping.com/free-rss-submit-online/ but there are others out there. You want to get your RSS feed seen by as many people as possible.
4) High Authority Backlinks
Some of my major and first sites I go to for authority links is Stumble Upon, Reddit, Digg, Google Plus, Twitter, Pinterest, Delicious and Tumblr. The best way is to leave unique useful content and don't just spam your website. This takes time but well worth it, these are powerful links that help your authority, crawl rate and you get some traffic out of it.
This will not only give you an authority link but also get you nice traffic. Make a video relating to your blog and start a channel. You will be surprised at the traffic you get.
6) Create an Infographic
Now it's getting easier to create an infographic that has the potential of going viral, I found http://www.easel.ly/ and have created some nice infographics. You don't have to be a artist or designer they make it easy to do. Just find something interested related to your niche and create something. Add that to social media and that's some good exposure.
7) Be Everywhere
It's a time consuming thing to make your blog popular but it's do-able and not as hard as you think. If you have some money but not time, go to odesk and hire a virutal assistant that can help you out. If you don't have much money, just chunk the tasks down and start small. Don't go with spammy useless tactics, take a little extra time create some quality and it will pay off. Just try and be everywhere your niche is, guest post, blog comments and forums. By being present in more places and getting backlinks (votes) for your site, you become way more popular in no-time.
