I know it’s August and Christmas is still many months away but tablet enthusiasts be prepared! Christmas will see the launch of a variety of new and exciting tablets released before the busy holiday period.
As the tablet market grows increasingly popular so has the competition between companies and Christmas 2012 promises to be a highly competitive affair with plenty of companies releasing fresh and exciting tablets.
Below I have listed some of the best tablets to look out for this Christmas.
Sony have confirmed that they will be releasing a tablet by the end of the year but as of yet there isn’t much information about the hyped Sony Xperia.
Sony is not a well-established tablet maker releasing only the Tablet S and Tablet P in the past with both using Google’s Android operating system however the Xperia could instead use Windows 8 over Google’s Android. Windows 8 which is released in October is expected to be the main operating system for many of the Christmas tablets.
Sony are keeping very tight lipped on some of the hottest features of Xperia but they will want it to be a success after recently announcing they are losing more than £2 million pounds a day! Let’s hope the Xperia can start a turn in fortunes for the struggling Japanese company.
The ‘Mystery’ Apple Tablet
Ever since PC world and Curry’s announced a ‘mystery’ Apple product in their top 10 products to look out for this Christmas the rumours have intensified with suggestions that a new 7.85 inch iPad ‘Mini’ could be hitting the shelves soon.
There seems to be enough evidence to suggest that Apple are developing a mini i-Pad with Apple blog iLounge confirming it will be released in November and another Apple blog iMore announcing a special event in September to announce the release of a new iPad along with a new iPhone and iPod touch.
Whether or not the rumours are true we are not sure but there seems to be significant evidence that by Christmas there will be a mini iPad on the market!
Amazons Kindle Fire
Amazons Kindle Fire was released in the USA in late 2011 but as of yet has not been released in the UK.
In America the Kindle Fire has performed well offering genuine competition to the iPad with plenty of digital content been the basis of Amazon’s marketing strategy.
There are rumours circulating amongst tablet enthusiasts that it could be released early August but Amazon have made no official announcement but expect plenty from Amazon as they also have the Kindle e-reader coming out which is priced at a very reasonable £89! Bargain!
Other tablets that are worth a mention include the Google Nexus 7 which has already been launched in the UK and the 3rd generation Apple iPad which topped the list of products to look out for from PC World and Currys.
The tablet market is becoming increasingly competitive so it’s no surprise that so many are been released and one thing that is certain for fans of the tablet medium will have plenty of choice this Christmas.About the author: Thomas Banken works for stevesmediasolutions, a Yorkshire based PC company offering computer repairs Scarborough based.
