Most bloggers plan to make money out of their blogs but only few of them ever get to reach that goal. If you have money-making in mind you need to come up with a blog that attracts advertisers, sponsors, and business opportunities. The following seven steps should help you create a blog that has great possibilities of earning.

1. Choose the right blogging platform. And when I say “right” I mean whichever suits your taste. I do recommend choosing between Blogger and WordPress because these platforms are search-friendly, making it easier for readers to find your blog in a search engine.



2. Design your blog for efficiency. The layout must allow access to all of your published posts and blog posts. It must look clean and not have too much going on so that readers won’t get distracted when trying to read your content. All pages must load quickly to prevent visitors from bouncing off your site.


3. Stick to a niche you’re truly interested in. If you lack passion, you will eventually lose the will to keep on writing. Your niche needs to be broad if you don’t want to run out of things to write for your blog. Examples of broad topics you can write about are technology, gadget reviews, and SEO marketing. Having a broad topic also encourages variety in business opportunities later on.


4. Learn basic SEO. SEO which stands for Search Engine Optimization is a practice that will help attract readers to your blog via search engines and consequently increase its traffic. Start by learning keyword research and move on to more advanced techniques like link building. There are thousands of free resources online offering tips on SEO. Advertisers and sponsors like it when a blog has high traffic coming in from search engines.


5. Update your blog frequently. You don’t need to blog everyday but posting one every few days would be good for your traffic. If you decide to apply for social media sponsorship programs like Social Spark, your blog won’t get approved if you don’t have at least 20 posts within 90 consecutive days. This goes to show that advertisers prefer blogs that are constantly updated.


6. Socialize your blog. You can get more from bucks advertisers and sponsors if you have solid followers on your social networks. Create profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and social media sites of your choice and link to them on your blog. You should also link these accounts to your blog for cross-promotion. Apart from attracting advertisers, social media also attracts traffic and a tool for finding out what readers want from your blog.


7. Use SEO tools. SEO add-on tools are available for browsers like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. You can use them to monitor how your website is performing on Alexa and Google. Target a low Alexa Rank and a Google PageRank ranging from 1 to 5 since anything higher usually belongs to authoritative sites. Registering your blog at Google Analytics would be best if you want to access more accurate information about incoming traffic. These tools can gauge your site’s performance over a span of time. They can help you tell whether your site needs improvements and if your keyword strategies are working.
